About me

I have a real passion for long distance cycling both for fitness & leisure and as a way of challenging myself and pushing myself to the very limit that my body will allow me and then aiming to improve on it.

I enjoy listening to music and mainly listen to Rock/Metal & Alternative Rock/Punk but im open to most types really.

I love to travel and spent most of 2005/06/07 travelling the States,Canada and a bit of everywhere else and try to get away as much as i can even if it its just to another part of the United Kingdom & Ireland.

Ive got quite a high tolerance level and dont let people get to me easily which is often useful and im always up for a laugh and tend to be the comical one in a crowd who tries to lighten the mood and crack a few jokes & pranks.

Im Currently working as a Logistics operative for a reputable company whilst also continuing my passion for Video/Sound & Special effects editing and post production varying from small projects for school projects/presentations to as wide as several early episodes of the now famous Red VS Blue Halo videogame series.

I have also embarked on a course to become a Qualified Microsoft certified systems engineer with Java Support enabling me to become fully qualified and freelance in all areas that i excel in and enjoy working in.

My History

A lot of people find a sport or activity that they are good at at young ages or quite early on and like a lot of people growing up I had quite a few interests in football, computer games, music and various other sports and such but none of them really progressed to anything, I have cycled for most of my life on and off and its taken me the best part of 20 years to get to the stage where I have finally found a sporting activity or recreation that I really cant get enough of and want to do every minute of the day.

About 7 months ago I purchased a used mountain bike on Ebay with the intention of cycling now and again and that if it didnt work out I wouldnt have spent a large sum of money that would have been wasted but after a month or so I noticed that it was working very well, I then started to get interested in trying to find suitable upgrades or the next cool part or gadget to purchased and starting buying things like new lights and Semi-Slick and Full Slick tires for my mountain bike all the time trying to boost the performance and edge it nearer to the road bike design that I wanted it to be.

I had never really taken part in a large national event or fundraiser or had any sort of medals/trophys to show of any achievements so when I saw the London Bikeathon 2008 advertised online I instantly was hooked to the idea of joining up but the cautious side of me edged me towards taking the middle of the road route which was 26 miles rather than the lesser 16 mile or the latter 52 mile cycle, What with me being a rather new cyclist at this stage it was a wise option although I felt ready to do it all again at the end of the event.

Me4 So on it went and another 3-4 months passed by and I carried on commuting and doing recreational cycles at weekends until I got to the stage where I made a decision that I wanted a road bike, So I did my research and I knew offhand that I would want a Trek as they are frankly in my opinion the best manufacturers out there and lets be fair who wouldnt want to ride the exact model that Lance Armstrong rides in his spare time and on warm ups for the Tour(Which is the same bike that I have!)

So off I went down to Evans Cycles at Canary Wharf and got fitted up and they made me the frame that I required and a few days later back I came with a Trek 1.7 2008 Triple Crank (To be fair who would want a double? triple has enough gears to tackle anything any more!) road bike and then it really started to get going.

I was fully geared out and all set and started to go longer, further and harder on my rides eventually taking 60+ mile rides on at weekends as recreation as well as doing intense training on my Tacx trainer indoors in the evenings after the commmute before eventually arriving at the point of riding the 50 mile Palace to Palace 2008 Prince's Trust cycle which was terrific.

So now here I am getting ready for my next challenges which at current is the Oxford to Cambridge 2008 90 mile cycle in aid of the British Heart Foundation and loving every minute of my road bike which is now a way of life after months of use and should be after investing over £1500 into the bike at current and still rising.

So there ya go thats the history of cycling on Mark Williams :)
